Passenger on Titanic Afflicted with Remarkable Series of Troubles
The Pittsburgh Post, April 24, 1912
“There was a tearful meeting at a local Pennsylvania railroad station today between Mrs. Chanrini Wehppe, a survivor of the Titanic disaster, and her eight-year-old daughter, Josie.
“Mrs. Wehppe, who is a Syrian, was returning from her old home with her niece, Miss Habib Banora, and a male cousin, as a third class passenger on the Titanic. Mrs. Wehppe and Miss Banora were saved, but the cousin went down with the ship.
“Mrs. Wehppe’s hair was jet black when she left here eight months ago. Today it is white. While Mrs. Wheppe was in her old home a brother, two cousins and a sister died and she stated with her rest of her relatives for her her home here. Mrs. Wehppe’s husband died about a year ago.”
